Ani Difranco
Which Side Are You On?
Female Contemporary Singer/Songwriter. From Buffalo, NY, ¿Which Side Are You On? marks DiFranco’s first studio album in more than three years. The collection features 11 new songs alongside a radically reworked rendition of the classic title song, famously popularized by the one and only Pete Seeger nearly five decades ago, but no less relevant today. Ani is even joined on her stunning new version of “¿Which Side Are You On?” by Pete Seeger, whom she praises as “my elder, my forefather in folk music and political song.” The album represents an extraordinary snapshot of DiFranco’s own life as well her sense of where the country stands at this particular moment in time.

The Fucking Hotlights
High Society Torture Party
Punk/Hardcore. The Fucking Hotlights is a local loud rock/punk(?) band from Buffalo, NY who have been playing shows in and out of Buffalo for about 2 years now. So there’s a lot of well-deserved chatter and hype about Obits and their hybrid of classic-rock swagger and hardcore/noiserock grit. For my money, though, The Fucking Hotlights are way more visceral and rewarding. This Buffalo NY outfit ups the ante by throwing in some nods to Jesus Lizard and Circus Lupus and churns out a record that epitomizes fuck-all rock and roll. Dig it. With a limited vinyl-only release they personally made us a CDR as they sais “I know our name is probably not radio friendly but our music should be fine for you guys to air. Nothing offensive, just a very few minor cuss words peppered in here and there that you’ll have to listen close to catch. But hey, it’s rock and roll right?”

The Mob From Atlantis
The Mob From Atlantis was formed in 2010. Todd and Tom had been working w/drummer Jim in 2009, when he died suddenly. He is an 8 year Army veteran, and ECC and UB grad, and also plays in a 90s rock and grunge cover band (Zazz Blammymatazz) and an original hard rock band (Super Killer Robots). I Can See Mountains
Hope You Never Get It
Pop/Punk/Rock. From Buffalo, NY. A wise man once said that “without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible.” This has largely been lost on the current state of our musical society. I solemnly swear that I will make every effort to be the agent of change that I wish to see and that we will continue to put it all on the line each and every night and promise that we will never hold back. Not only in our current musical pursuits but also in life, liberty, and the pursuit of whatever it is that makes you the happiest. I Can See Mountains is not just 15 letters arranged into words to form some band name. It’s a reason, a mindset, a statement of purpose and a family.

Win Peter Winters
Win Peter Winters
Local Alternative Singer/Songwriter Classical Composer/Arranger. The self-titled, debut album from Jamestown, NY’s singer/songwriter turned classical composer and arranger Win Peter Winters more resembles a beautifully directed film-or an anicent, mythological, epic poem a la The Odyssey-than it resembles most contemporary indie folk albums. Not only does this collection of ten songs establish Winters as a masterful storyteller, but it also finds the artist painting breaktakingly affective musical landscapes to illustrate his tale. From thunderous, terrifying minor crescendos, to lovely, glistening bowed xylophone ambience, to fiery, galloping, staccato strings; all instrumentation drives and enriches the story, deepening the emotive and affective qualities of each track.
